Shark Key is an island in the lower Florida Keys about 7 miles east of Key West. Shark Key was named by early surveyors for its shark-like shape. This island, minutes from Key West, boasts more than two miles of shoreline, lush foliage, sparkling lagoon, and some of the most exquisite waterfront homes in the Florida Keys. Stunning water vistas provide a timeless backdrop for one-of-a-kind waterfront homes. Shark Key will become retreat and residence for just fifty families. All waterfront lots are bay front and range in size from one-quarter acre to over one half acre.
In developing Shark Key, we have gone further than any other community to provide privacy in an island setting for our residents. Shark Key is guided by a master plan which promotes an integrated island atmosphere, promising quality down to the smallest detail.
Each spacious homesite's is on the bay with plenty of space between homes. There are no backyard neighbors in this gated community, guaranteeing the serene lifestyle desired by Shark Key residents.
Emphasis is placed on landscaping and roof lines to provide enduring beauty and longevity so that the natural charm of Shark Key remains uniform with growth. An architectural board, consisting partially of homeowners, promotes individuality while keeping the Caribbean island ambiance intact.
Gazebos, a clubhouse, and two tennis courts frame the picture - perfect swimming lagoon with a beach of Bahamian sand. Adirondack chairs scattered throughout the gardens invite residents to bask under the myriad of palms.
The lagoon and clubhouse are accentuated by sculpture of a heron taking flight from a mangrove tree and wood carvings of smiling dolphins guarding the clubhouse. Natural artwork also abounds in the form of bougainvillea, frangipani, royal poincianna and other tropical flowers. Coral rock excavated from nearby lagoons is used extensively in guardrail columns, mailbox pedestals, and gateways. Heavy chains, salvaged from a decommissioned Navy ship, line the winding streets.
There is a special ambiance on Shark Key. As one resident has said, "There is no noise, no crowds, no danger of busy traffic or strangers. It is small enough to get to know your neighbors, yet spacious enough to enjoy the privacy expected from this type of island living. Shark Key is a great place to call home. |
